Luke Skywalker

Following suit with yesterday's post. Think I'm going to have a stab at using a good sable instead of this Fude pen.

(I will prob throw a wash over this on sunday)

(note too self...blue don't scan well)

Boba Fett

A warm down sketch. I wanted to put a wash over this. But, at the moment, I can't find my putty rubber to take away the pencil line. When I do finally get to put a wash over it, I'll be posting it too a mate of mine as a wee gift!

A quick wash and colour splash:

The Rocketeer

A quick little warm up piece after having watched the Rocketeer last night!

Thought I may as well upload the day's warm down sketch also...

Pental and Platinum Fude Pen Trials

Couple of sketchs and ideas, using both the Pental Brush pen and the Fude Platinum Pen.

Salamander Samurai

Working on inking techniques and using numerous pen's at the moment. I have no explanation why this picture came to be, other than I wanted to produce something that would put these new pen's to the test. One other good thing that came from producing this picture, is I now (finally) have something that I can get printed for my good friend Adam http://adamsdigitalink.blogspot.com/

Better late than never hey mate! :)

(as always, looks a bit poo as a Jpeg. Hopefully a print will give it, it's clarity back?)

This is a Tiff saved version with the texture taken out, just want to see the quality of a tiff file:

Not happy with the tiff version, but taking the texture out has definitely helped with the compression. This one is jpeg, no texture and a little bit of the sharpen filter...I think this works best?

A few recent scribbles and designs. still want to go back and do the Hobbit Illustrations that I was going on about!

Future Engineer

Still constantly trying to find the perfect medium and expressive style for my work.

The Notorious Clover Mob (character designs)

A couple of character designs, from yet another one of those stories that I have clogging up my brain. These were coloured pencil and then biro penned up. Starting to really like using a biro for the linework.

Big Irish (gang leader, though I hope that speaks for it's self?)
Snake Eye's (can shoot anything that moves... whilst blind drunk!)

The Deadly Nacho Pancho (this guy could throw knifes before he could walk. To me that's just bad parenting!)

The Fox And The Ermine (first piece of 2012)

Trying something a bit different. I say different, but really this a style I used on a few picture back when I was in collage. I was a lot more experimental back then and I need to bring that back into my work this year. Having spent 3 years on a course designed around the video-games industry it had a real sobering effect upon my approach to my work and my working methods... (time to change that)

Happy New Year!!! (bit late like ;)

Here Comes Christmas

Merry Christmas***

I hope to make this image my last ever in this style. This coming year, I really need to start pushing on with how I want my work to really look. I want to start working with bigger and bolder shapes and I want to start painting things in a much flatter and panel like way. I also want to start heading back towards using more traditional mediums (think this time I'm going to try Acrylic's) I'm really hoping 2012 will be the year when the cog's of creativity and opportunity start to turn for me.

(think I best stock up on WD40 then)

Here's to next year, cheers

Sketch's...Sketch's...Sketch's

Really unhappy with my last post, so much so that when the time is right I'm going to completely re-do the image. I really like the Knight, his structure and his movement. But, the rest of the image is a mess, I lost my confidence and self direction whilst I worked on it. With these mistakes made I know I can make the image so , so much stronger!

In the meantime here is a few sketch's. Two of them are pencil crayon and biro pen and the other was done in Mr plain old pencil. Cheers

(all these sketch's were done whilst I was working in my Dad's shop...good job he doesn't read this Blog, then again nobody does)
